Early Life
Tiwa Savage was born on 5th February 1989 in Isale-Eko, Lagos state, Nigeria. They later relocated to London when she was 11 years old.
Her father was Prince Olanrewaju Savage, and her mother was Cecilia Savage.
Her siblings are Alhaji Savage and Cecilia Savage, Shola Savage, and Wale Savage.
Education
She is an Alumni of the esteem the University of Kent where she graduated with a degree in Accounting.
She also graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Professional Music in 2007.
Musical Career
She started her career at the age of 16. She was a backup artist for artists like Chaka Khan, Blu Cantrell, Emma Bunton, Kelly Clarkson, Andrea Bocelli, and Ms. Dynamite songs.
After her college education in 2009, she signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV music production. She wrote songs for artists likes Babyface, Kat Deluna, Fantasia, Monica, and Mýa.
In 2012, she returned to her homeland Nigeria. There she Signed under Mavin Record Label.
In 2013, she released her debut album ‘Once Upon a Time‘.
In 2014, she was nominated for MOBO Award in the category of Best African Act, and also in the same year she won the prize for Best Female at the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards.
In 2015, she released her second album ‘R.E.D‘. Majority of the production work was handled by Jazzy .
In 2016, she signed a management and publishing deal with Jay-Z Roc Nation. This gave her a chance to perform at Jay-z Made in America Festival in 2017.
In 2017. she released her Ep debut album ‘Sugarcane‘. It features collaborations with producers and guest artists such as Wizkid, and Spellz among others.
In 2018, she was named Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards after headlining a sold-out show at London’s Indigo venue.
In 2019, she signed a publishing contracting with Universal Music Group. The same year, she made an appearance in Coldplay eighth studio album Everyday Life. On 5 September 2019, Savage released her first single “49-99”, with Motown Records.
In 2020, she released her third studio album Celia which consisted of 13 tracks in which she collaborated with artists like Davido, and Steflon Don among others.
In 2022, she released Water & Garri which consisted of 5 tracks and collaborated with artists like Rich King, and Nas among others. The same year she hosted Water & Garri North American Tour in support of the Ep album. The journey commenced in New York, on 15 May 2022, and concluded in Toronto, on 19 June 2022.
Apart from music, she is also an actress and has featured in MTV Shuga season 3, Jenifa’s Diary, and For Color Girls.
In 2023, she is going to feature in her upcoming Water & Garri film featuring other actors like Mike Afolarin, Jemima Osunde, and Andrew Bunting.

She was married to Tunji “Tee Billz” Balogun and they had a son Jamil Balogun. However, the two separated but are co-parenting. She was left due to infidelity and her mother’s witchcraft. However, Tiwa accused his man of financial mismanagement, drug addiction, and abandoning them.
She is also rumoured to be dating her fellow artist Wizkid.
